Help
Tally keeps the tally for a sports team — fines, 3/2/1 votes, who turned up, what happened on the weekend. If something isn't working or you're stuck, this page is the place to start.
Getting in touch
Email Sean.Woolnough@outlook.com and a real person will read it. Tally is a small app, so it may not be instant, but every message gets an answer.
It helps if you say which team you're in, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead.
Reporting someone or something
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive behaviour towards other people using Tally. If you see either — a fine reason written to have a go at someone, a photo or a name that shouldn't be there, anything about you that you want gone — report it and we will look at it within 24 hours.
Report a concern from inside the app, or email Sean.Woolnough@outlook.com.
You don't have to wait for us either. A team admin can remove anyone from their team in team settings, which cuts their access off straight away, and you can leave a team yourself from the same screen.
I can't sign in
Use forgot password and we'll email you a link to set a new one. It goes to the address you signed up with, so check the spam folder if it hasn't turned up after a few minutes.
If you never confirmed your email when you signed up, that link is still sitting in your inbox — find it, or sign up again with the same address.
How do I join a team?
Someone in the team sends you an invite link. Open it, sign up or sign in, and you're in. There's no way to search for a team and ask to join — an admin has to hand you the link, which is how a team's fines and votes stay private to the people in it.
Admins: the link lives on your team page under the menu, and you can regenerate it in Settings if it ends up somewhere it shouldn't.
Notifications aren't arriving
Worth checking, in this order:
- Open the team menu, then Notifications, and make sure they're turned on for the phone you're holding. It's a per-device setting, so turning them on for your phone doesn't turn them on for your tablet.
- Tap Send a test on that screen. If the test arrives but real ones don't, check the list below it — each kind can be muted separately.
- Check iPhone Settings, then Notifications, then Tally, and make sure Allow Notifications is on. If you said no when the app first asked, this is the only place to change your mind.
- Some kinds are switched off by the team rather than by you. Your admin can turn them back on in the team's notification settings.
Something's wrong with a fine
If your team has the judiciary turned on, open the fine and contest it — an admin sees it and rules on it, and the fine is put on hold until they do. If not, have a word with whoever runs the fines. Tally doesn't handle money, so nothing here charges anyone anything; a fine is a record your team keeps, and how it gets settled is between you.
Who can see my information?
The people in your team, and nobody else. Your fines, votes and attendance are visible to your teammates because that's the point of a shared tally — but nothing is public, nothing is sold, and there are no advertisers. The privacy policy spells it out properly.
Leaving a team, or deleting your account
To leave one team but keep your account, open that team's Settings and choose to leave.
To delete your account entirely, open your profile from the top of the team page and use the Leaving section. It removes your name, email and photo, and signs you out for good. Scores and results your teammates rely on stay in the team's history with your name taken off them, because deleting them outright would rewrite other people's seasons. If you'd rather we did it for you, email the address at the top of this page.
